3DEngraving
This is something I myself have been interested in perfecting for quite some time now. 3D engraving or 3D woodcarving is the art of sculpturing a three dimensional image from a solid block of timber. Most people when carving a 3D image out of timber will look at a picture or object and then begin carving away at the timber with a hammer and a variety of different types of wood chiles in order to achieve the desired 3D in the material they are carving.
This is the traditional method of wood carving that has been used through out the centuries by the human race, which requires a lot of time, skill, effort and patients by the sculpture. While I much interest and respect for this age old method, the advances in technology in the past 10 - 20 years epically have opened the door for a new kind of 3D engraving/ carving.
I am talking about the use of computers and computer controlled machines that can produce detailed 3D images to a high degree of accuracy.
With this method of carving 3D objects out of timber we are able to take a 2D picture or digital image and by using a CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) machine, be able to turn a two dimensional image into an impressive three dimensional work of art, that can be made over and over to the exact same degree of accuracy each and every time.
Here in this section of the website you will find many examples of what can be done with this method of 3D engraving and I hope you like and enjoy the results this type of woodcarving can bring.
